Blog Post for New Energy Yoga - Introduction

Hiya,

My name is Bree and I am the Receptionist and Client Service Team Member at New Energy Yoga. I am currently taking a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course in the pursuit of becoming a certified yoga teacher. Over the next few months I will post about my journey, the impact on my personal practice, and a bit about the spiritual and philosophical foundations of yoga. These weekly post will cover topics such as yoga history and the varying practices, asanas (postures), pranayama (breath work), and a few other topics that I would love to chat about (yoga leggings for example; from lululemon to sweaty betty, which is the best?). Before we dive into the deep end, let me plead my ignorance. I am a student (lifelong student) and I am acutely aware of my lack of knowledge in the wide and expansive discipline that is the study and practice of yoga. I started my yogic journey 3 years ago when I moved to London from Chicago to pursue my Master’s degree. Having always been athletic, I was looking for a workout and an outlet to combat the stress and anxiety from my studies. Like so many others after my first yoga class, I was instantly hooked. The balance I gained from this moving meditation was addictive. From the slow progression of my physical practice to the feeling of peace and spaciousness that I gained after every savasana, yoga made me feel like I was discovering something exciting and new and that I was connecting to something beyond myself. Now, as my obsession has grown into a way of life, I am excited to share this new chapter of my yoga journey with you as I delve deeper into the philosophy of the practice with the completion of my foundation course.
