Haven on the Hill is a bespoke retreat venue located on the edge of the small village of Lalandusse, Lot et Garonne. An ideal place to detach and slow down from the demands of modern life, Lalandusse is a quaint little village boasting a local bar, café, church, and Maire Office. More shops and restaurants can be found in the nearby Baside towns of Castillonnes with the historic ‘pepper pot’ clock tower, and Eymet with its quirky Thursday Market.



Accommodation comprises of a single storey house with a gite, a converted barn with a massive open yoga studio, and an old workshop with a massage and aromatherapy treatment room. The main house has a spacious kitchen with dining area, an outdoor dining space where guests can enjoy the countryside views, a comfortable living room with a large burning stove, and a garden with views overlooking the pool and neighbouring fields. The gite houses consists of a dorm room for up to 3 people, 2 twin rooms with en-suites, and a communal kitchen and seating area. The old workshop that has been converted to a twin room with en-suite.

The food will vegetarian and sourced either from the fruit trees on the property or locally. Before each morning yoga practice there will be a light breakfast snack consisting of tea, coffee, fruit and yogurt. Brunch will be served after the morning practice and dinner will be served each night at 7:00pm.


The yoga studio is located within a converted stone barn dated 1816. The space is flowing with light, original oak beams and large log burner. Mats, blocks, bolsters and blankets are all provided. The morning Hatha practice will be lead by Poppy Koumis and will include a pranayama and meditation session. The evening Vinyasa practice will be lead by Bree Oliver and will follow certain themes following on from the morning Hatha class. Vinyasa, as a style of yoga, is more dynamic and physically challenging but every session will conclude with a 30-minute Yin and restorative session.

Daily Satsang

After dinner each night we will meet in a small group for an informal gathering. In yoga this type of gathering is called a Satsang and is meant to facilitate the sharing of wisdom and liberation of truth. Like meditation and the physical asana practice, Satsang is meant to quiet the mind and open our inner awareness while connecting with the world around us.

Travel Details

Haven on the Hill is approximately 20km from Bergerac airport accessible from any major airport including Heathrow and Southampton. You will be responsible for booking your flight, travel insurance, and any accommodation before/after the start and end dates of the retreat. Transportation to and from Bergerac airport is provided by Haven on the Hill. Once you have booked your flights, if you would please provide the details to so that we can arrange your transport.

A non-refundable deposit of £100 is required to secure your place. The final balance is due April 23rd.

108 Sun Salutations Workshop


Join Poppy Koumis & myself for 108 sun salutations to bid the old year farewell and welcome the new year in!

Surya Namaskar, the Sun Salutation, is a series of 12 postures performed in a single, graceful flow. Each movement is coordinated with the breath. We will begin the workshop by creating a Sanculpa, an intention for the new year. Then we will begin to flow through our sun salutations, creating a moving meditation with the pulse of the breath. As we move through the 108 sun salutations, we will cleanse the body and mind in order to take the time to set our intentions for the new year ahead.

Why 108? The number 108 carries spiritual significance in many cultures. There are 108 Vedic yogic texts dating from the 6th century BCE and 108 yoga sutras. According to yogic tradition, there are 108 pithas, or sacred sites throughout India and 108 marma points, or sacred places of the body. There are 108 beads on a Catholic rosary and the Tibetan malas. 1 stands for higher truth, 0 stand for emptiness, 8 stands for infinity. The practice of 108 Sun salutations is traditionally done to honour the change in seasons.

All levels are welcome as participants can take any necessary rest breaks or modifications and complete as many of the 108 as they possibly can. We will begin and end the practice with pranayama and meditation.
